The anniversary conference "Today's challenges of oil geology. Alternatives and prospects for development" will be held in St. Petersburg, 6-8 November 2019, and devoted to the 90th anniversary of the founding of All-Russian Petroleum Research Exploration Institute (VNIGRI).
Several sessions will be held during the conference on the following subjects: Strategy of development for oil and gas raw material base in the current conditions; Arctic – Eastern Siberia – new horizons of geological exploration; nonconventional crude hydrocarbons accumulations – approaches to research and exploration; scientific support of geological explorations for raw hydrocarbons in the current conditions.
The anniversary conference will focus on defining the areas for development of oil and gas science and industry and sharing of best practices. The challenges of sustainable and long-term renewal of hydrocarbon mineral resource base through the use of domestic developments and improvement of the performance of Russian researchers and plants will be discussed there.

All-Russian Petroleum Research Exploration Institute (VNIGRI) was founded in 1929 as the Country's first scientific center of prospecting and exploration for oil and gas deposits and scientific support for geological explorations.
Throughout the 9 decades of its existence VNIGRI has contributed to the study and substantiation of major areas of geological explorations, taken part in discovering many oil and gas deposits, made their contributions to the industrial history and national economy. In the history of VNIGRI, more than 460 Ph.D and more than 120 doctoral theses were defended.
The Institute has a great information and collection base while keeping the tradition of academic schools (oil geological, geochemical, lithological, stratigraphic, HTR reserves, etc.), and makes investigations in the extensive range of present-day theoretical and practical problems of oil geology.
