Sevmorneftegeofizika (SMNG, Murmansk, a subsidiary of the state-owned holding RosGeo) completed the digital processing of seismic data for the junction zone of the Laptevs marginal-continental plate with the Eurasian Basin structures of the Arctic Ocean.
Here, RosGeo is conducting the surveys at the expense of the federal budget under the public contract signed with Department of Mineral Resources in the North-West Federal District for the exploration on the continental shelf and in the World ocean (Sevzapnedra, a subdivision of Rosnedra).
The purpose of the project is to study the regional geological structure of the area, identification of the fields promising in terms of oil and gas potential, determination of the regularities in their locations. The outcome of the work should be the assessment of the localized hydrocarbon resources and development of recommendations for the next stages of explorations and surveys in the purpose of hydrocarbon resource base reproduction.
In 2018 SMNG completed the field seismic survey operations. Insofar, the stage of digital seismic data processing has been completed, the interpretation is in progress.
The studies envisaged under the contract will be completed in 2019.
