Sergei Gorkov, Director General - Chairman of the Board of RosGeo, took part in a working meeting deicated to the prospects of "digital tools" implementation in development of oil fields. The event took place in St. Petersburg on the eve of the official opening of the 5-th International Arctic Forum "Arctic – the Territory of Dialog" with the participation of the Head of the Ministry of Natural Resources of Russia Dmitry Kobylkin, Chairman of the Board, Director General of Gazprom Neft Alexander Dukov, Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Ecology of the Russian Federation, who oversees the digitalization issues in the Agency, Elena Panova.

The participants discussed the actions to improve the efficiency of oil fields development, including those in the Arctic regions, and opportunities for development of hard-to-extract stocks with the best technical solutions based on mathematical models and data analysis.

The digitalization is an extreme pending issue for RosGeo: the Holding is implementing a number of projects in this area. In particular, the company is developing the remote sensing, digitizing the surface of the country territory in a high grade of details, elaborating "Geoplatforma". This is an integrated information system with an open architecture that provides a multilateral cooperation between the state and mining companies in exchange of information and values. The purpose of the project is to reduce the total transaction costs, optimize the business processes, and improve the efficiency of natural resource management. It is expected to elaborate a untied for Russia database of explored minerals on the basis of the platform.

“According to the expert estimates, the potential economic effect from digitalization of the Russian economy is capable to increase the country's GDP by 4,1–8,9 trillion rubles by 2025, - noted S. Gorkov. - It is 19-34% of the total expected GDP growth. Even more significant results can be obtained in the subsurface management, since large-scale digitization will allow to significantly reduce the cost of the most expensive components - geological exploration, drilling, transportation, and to ensure rational use of mineral resources."
