Tashkent, the Republic of Uzbekistan, February 27, 2020 – Rosgeo and State Committee on Geology and Mineral Resources of the Republic of Uzbekistan have signed an Agreement of Cooperation in the field of mineral resources. Sergey Gorkov, Director General and Chairman of the Board of Rosgeo, and Bobir Islamov, signed the document in the presence of Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulla Aripov.
"We are pleased to have signed the Agreement setting out the basis for cooperation between Rosgeo and Uzbekistan with the aim of fostering a culture of innovation and rational using the natural resources of the Republic. That will promote the development of the country production and export capacities," Sergey Gorkov, General Director of Rosgeo. "I am positive that together, we will be able to obtain the great results that will illustrate a high resource potential of Uzbekistan, and to make a significant contribution to the development of mutually beneficial economic partnership among our States."
Under the Agreement, Rosgeo will undertake to improve the geological model, to study oil-and-gas bearing prospects, to determine the hydrocarbon potential, and finally to substantiate further trends of oil and gas explorations for discovering new fields.
The Agreement also determines other avenues of cooperation between the parties, such as the following: formulating a long-term research program focused on designing and deploying innovative man-made waste recycling technologies, joint efforts in developing and implementing a program to identify and assess rare and rare-earth element resources, and developing an appropriate technology for the recovery of valuable components.
Other areas of cooperation are to study the mineralized water composition for assessing the possibility of their demineralization and recovering valuable components, as well as using the desalination technologies.
The Agreement also includes the research and development to evaluate the use of metal-bearing oil shales in the economic sectors of Uzbekistan to diversify the reserve of non-ferrous and rare-earth metals, and to assess the diamond resource base.
As for management digitalization of the mineral resource base of Uzbekistan the Parties have agreed to create a software stack for data management and analysis related to the amount and composition of industrial waste mineral matter, and to assess the efficiency of commercial development of the Republic's mineral resources through engineering the digital geological-economic models.
To implement the Agreement the Parties will consider establishing a Rosgeo subsidiary and scientific and technical council in the Republic of Uzbekistan to coordinate and evaluate the efficiency of joint efforts.
