The innovative project for geographic information support of marine geological explorations in the Arctic, developed by Sevmorneftegeophysica JSC (SMNG, a subsidiary of Rosgeo), became the laureate of the "International contest of research and development, and innovative solutions for exploration of the Arctic and continental shelf.”
The awarding ceremony of the contest winners and laureates has taken place today in St. Petersburg within the framework of the International Conference on the development of oil and gas resources of the Russian Arctic and continental shelf of the CIS countries (RAO/CIS Offshore-2019).
The geoinformation support system developed by SMNG is designed for acquisition and analysis of operational and retrospective data related to the weather, ice situation, mutual disposition of vessels and operations performed, etc. The system can provide real-time information to the shore services engaged in the monitoring, control and supervision during marine geological explorations in the Arctic in the complicated hydrometeorological and ice situations and short field season.
The online remote monitoring and support technology makes it possible to conduct the detailed online planning, control and efficient management of marine seismic exploration in the Arctic, as well as to significantly enhance the operational safety of personnel and equipment. The implementation of the geoinformation system in the Rosgeo's projects has resulted in the reduction of the work time-frames and growth of the economic efficiency of geological exploration, which indicates a great potential of its further use.
